Renee Ward founded Air Matters in 2002.  Since that time, Air Matters has become the mold testing firm of choice in the Triangle area for Realtors, builders, insurance companies, contractors, commercial business owners, service providers, and private homeowners. 

Renee performed her mold testing and investigation training under Harry Kagel, an Industrial Hygienist certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.  Before working with Renee at Air Matters, Harry Kagel was the Manager of Indoor Air Quality Services at Marshall Miller & Associates, a large mold investigation firm.

Prior to founding Air Matters, Renee oversaw the safety, ergonomics and environment programs for the Raleigh area manufacturing operations at Nortel Networks.  She also has 14 years of experience with Travelers Insurance, where she provided industrial hygiene, safety and ergonomic services to a wide variety of clients, including many Fortune 100 companies. Renee began her environmental safety career at GTE in Durham in 1986.

Renee earned both her Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University.  She is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the Indoor Air Quality Association, and the American Society for Training and Development.
